  《英语语音学与音系学使用教程》全书共分二十章。第一章为一个简短的导论。第二章到第十九章从小到大依次讲英语的单个音(第二章到第七章)、音节(第八、九章)、词(第十、十一章)、连续语流(第十四章)和语调(第十五章到第十九章),中间第十三章讲音系分析问题。最后一章简单介绍作者认为学生今后可进一步学习的三个领域。第一章的具体内容在分章导读中还要谈到,这里不再赘述。由于这本书是课本,不是参考书,因此每一章都要认真阅读,并掌握其内容。书中的黑体字是表示重要概念的词,要彻底明白其含义并记住。这些内容包括了有关英语发音的各种知识。但要学会正确流畅的发音,仅仅掌握有关英语发音的知识是远远不够的,还必须进行反复刻苦的模仿和练习。
